1) Taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich. (This is an irony because you should be doing the opposite)

2 examples of metaphor:
1) Its raining cats and dogs. (This is a metaphor because it is saying that it is raining very hard outside)
2) You are my east and you are my west. (This is a metaphor because it is saying that, that person is their compass)
2 examples of stereotype:
1) White men can't jump. (This is an example of a stereotype because it is judging the appearance of a person)
2) Old people are mean. (This is an example of a stereotype because it is judging the appearance of a person)
2 examples of allusions:
1) Harriet Tubman was called the Moses of her time. (This is an example of an allusion because it is saying an opinion of someone.)
2) To act or not to act, that was Maria's dilemma. ( This is an example because it is calling something to mind without mentioning it explicitly.)
Example of Irony from the book:
1) Henry threw his pistol at the oncoming plane. (This is an example of a irony because you shouldn't throw a gun at a plane you should shoot it with bullets.) Example of metaphor from the book:
1) Henry flew like a bird. (This is an example of a metaphor because it can't actually occur.) Example of stereotype from the book:
1) " Henry you are a hambone" said Clayton. (This is an example of a stereotype because it is judging someone by their actions.) Example of allusion from the book (from A Troubled Peace):
1) Henry herd Dan's voice talking to him when he was in the field. (This is an example of an allusion because someone that has passes away can't talk to you.)

1) His fathers criticism is always with him. 2) He can't stop thinking about Patsy. 3) He is constantly worrying about Pierre, a boy and his mother who took him in while he was trying to get home.
Internal Conflict Paragraph:
Henry has a father who is very critical for anything that Henry, his son, did wrong and the criticism his dad said to him remained in him for the rest of his life. His father is one of those fathers that pushes his son so he will become a better man and because he loves his son. This conflict takes place when Henry was a kid and it took place in Virginia. The conflict is resolved when Patsy is a girl that Henry likes and is close friends with and he can't take his mind off of her. This takes place in Virginia and in England while Henry is fighting in the war. This conflict occurs when Henry is a young boy at his farm in Virginia. The conflict is resolved when Henry comes home and kisses Patsy and she feels the same way Henry does. Henry is constantly worrying about Pierre, a boy and his mother who took him in while he was trying to get home. The conflict is created when Henry is shot down behind enemy lines. The conflict occurs when he was shot down and it happens over France. The conflict gets resolved when Henry gets home.
External Conflict Paragraph:
Henry broke his ankle when he landed after jumping out of his plane. This happens because his plane is shot down. The conflict occurs in France and it occurs on Henry's 15th bombing raid. The conflict gets resolved because Henry is found on the road by a French teacher who sneeks him into the Soviet Union where he gets his ankle fixed. Henry's plane is shot down. This happens because the American and British Air Force are engaging in a bombing mission where several planes are shot down and Henry and his crew are shot down also. This occurs in the sky above Germany on his 15th bombing raid. The conflict is resolved by Henry and his crew jump out of their plane before it explodes. Henry's behind enemy lines. This conflict occurs because his plane is shot down and he had to jump out of it. This occurs in France and it occurs during Henry's 15th bombing raid. The conflict gets resloved because the French Marquis helped Henry get out of France.
Claudette:
3 internal conflicts:
1) she wants revenge for the people who killed her mother.2) She wants to kill some Germans. 3) She wants to fight in the war.
3 external conflicts:
1) She is a women and they won't let her fight. 2) She can't fight because she is a women. 3) She wants to kill Germans.

The conflict is resolved because Henry takes her out of feeling that way. Claudette wants to kill some Germans. This conflict occcurs because her mother is killed by German soldiers. This occurs in France in the forest on the outskirts of a town. The conflict is resolved because Henry takes her out of feeling that way. She wants to fight in the war. 1. Research how young people were indoctrinated into Nazism. What was the purpose of such organizations?
2. How did these organizations fit into Hitler's plan for a perfect world?
3. Write your answers in paragraph form.
4. Due date: Friday, May 7
5. Put assignment on your individual WIKI page. Label it Assignment #3
The purpose of such organizations was to create a perfect Germany, Country, and Nation. Hitler wanted it this way because he wanted to continue "1,000 year Reich." Which means that Hitler wanted to conquer and have power over the world to make it a perfect world the way he wanted it to be and rule for 1,000 years. These organizations fit into Hitler's plan for a perfect world because Hitler wanted to rule the world and he wanted everything to be his way. He also wanted the world to be made up of the perfect race which was blond hair and blue eyes. AND IF HITLER WERE ABLE TO INDOCTRINATE YOUNG CHILDREN, THEY WOULD NOT KNOW ANY OTHER WAY OF LIVING. THIS WOULD KEEP COMMUNISM AS A WAY OF GOVERNMENT, AND HITLER WOULD BE ASSURED THAT THIS WOULD CONTINUE INTO THE FUTURE.

1. Define the terms 'bandwagon' and 'scapegoat'. How do those two terms relate to your novel? Explain.
2. Due Date: Tuesday, May 11
3. Put assignment on your individual WIKI page. Label it Assignment #4.
bandwagon: joining others in doing or supporting something fashionable or likely to be successful.
scapegoat: a person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency.
Bandwagon relates to my novel because problems in my novel occur because they are for the Nazi party or The Allies. The Germans are jumping on the bandwagon by supporting the Nazi's. The French, British, Americans, and Soviets are for the Allies which pretty much everyone is except for the Japanese, Italian, and Germans.
Scapegoat relates to my novel because conflicts arise and people try to find other people to blame for their problems or wrongdoings. The French blame the American's for the death of their people but that isn't entirely whose fault it is yes the Americans could have sent paratroopers into France but we couldn't have sent American soldiers into enemy territory blind (not knowing where the germans are) and expect them to win that just can't be done because that is risking to many lives when it could prevented.
